I laid HOW many eggs???



Not only were we delighted to see these 4 eggs laid by my favorite marsh bird, the black-crowed night heron on my birthday on July 27th, but to see what came out of those eggs 22 days later, SCROLL DOWN…

Little Black-Crowned Night Herons!



We loved being able to see this black-crowned night heron family growing and thriving.


These growing youngsters were pretty active, which explains why the parent steps away from the nest at the beginning of the video below.

Happy National Wildlife Day from Four Baby Herons!



There’s just something about baby birds! We loved watching these active baby black-crowned night herons in their nest—especially the runt of the litter, with his tiny stubs of wings! He is so much smaller than the others, he seems to be treating his siblings like parents: asking them for food!


We hope you’ve enjoyed celebrating National Wildlife Day with us by watching these precious baby birds.
