Happy National Make Your Bed Day!

Here’s my mom’s beautiful turtle quilt! If you wondered if we have lots of turtle items all around our house, the answer is a resounding YES. This turtle item is one of our favorites…thank you, Mom! A cute feature is that each tail on each turtle is not stitched down. Unfortunately, our cat Wally thinks the tails are toys for him to play with!

What Better Place for a Turtle Quilt?

Turtle quilts have often been a part of The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor over the years due to their work and research regarding diamondback terrapin turtles.

Mom entered our turtle quilt in the Wetlands Institute quilt show back in 2005 when they had their Wings and Water Festival in the fall. You can read more about the quilt in the entry form pictured here. Note that the hand cut pieces were sewn on a 1930 era Singer treadle machine!

Showing Off the Quilts!

It has been a while since our turtle quilt was displayed at the quilt show with other wonderful quilts pictured here at the 2005 Wings and Water Festival. We still use it and love it just as much, though! The quilt is also reversible with a water and lily pad motif we love, too.

We hope you enjoy your beautifully-made bed as well today on National Make Your Bed Day!

Thanks as always for reading.
