Chapter Ten of our 2022 Real-Life Turtle Fairy Tale Blogs!



Turn up your volume to hear about all 8 of the hatchlings we discovered last April 3rd!


You can be sure we will be watching our remaining 2023 nests very closely to see if more overwintered hatchlings emerge!


We wish we had written down the temperature when we discovered them…we’ll definitely make note of that if we find spring hatchlings this year. We will also be on the lookout for pesky skunks (those stinkers!) who got a lot of our turtle eggs last year, as there has been evidence lately of skunks afoot in Cape May County!

Off They Went



Here is a final look at the 8 hatchlings just before we released them. They all looked healthy and very active and ready to go!


Thus ends the story of our first hatchlings from our first sand pile, which brought our grand total number of hatchlings from nests in 2022 to 87 baby turtles released into the salt marsh!


Stay tuned for more blogging about our 2023 hatchlings. After thinking we now knew what to expect, we were in for some big surprises!
