Crazy Turtles

The puzzle you saw to get here had only 9 pieces, as does this one, The Crazy Turtle Game puzzle. The object is to arrange the cards so that the heads and tails of the same color will match, and the 9 cards must form a square. This puzzle includes 2 identical cards. There are 2 solutions.

This puzzle really will drive you crazy, though! It’s simple to attempt but not to complete. Just when you think you’ve figured it out: you haven’t!

We did take a picture of the solution to this puzzle some years back.

Five Easy Pieces

You'll notice we're currently working on a jigsaw puzzle underneath this one. We always like to have a jigsaw puzzle in progress (under a large sheet of plexiglass so our cats don't make off with any of the pieces)!

We love to bring out this 5-piece turtle puzzle when children visit—sometimes to distract them while waiting to see our live turtles!

Wooden puzzles can be a delight!

We once completed a 3,000-piece jigsaw puzzle—although it was not a wooden puzzle, nor a turtle puzzle. 😊 Someone we know completed a 33,000-piece floor jigsaw puzzle!

Turtle-shaped Puzzle Piece!

This puzzle piece is even shaped like a sea turtle (with flippers), and is the centerpiece of a small but mighty wooden sea turtle puzzle.

Wooden jigsaw puzzles take a certain kind of patience…instead of pressing the pieces, one needs to gently slide them into place!

Aqua Sea Turtle Puzzle

We discovered we loved jigsaw puzzles years ago at Christmas time when we began helping our young nephew, David, put his gift of a train jigsaw puzzle together. After a while, we would hear our relatives in the other room saying "Where's Aunt Karen and Uncle Charlie?" and the oft-repeated phrase "working on the puzzle" because we found we couldn't tear ourselves away! To this day, we often have to set a timer telling us when to stop working on the puzzle.

We love this beautiful sea turtle hatchling puzzle, and how the turtle floats in beautiful tropical waters.

Can you see the individual sea turtle piece, right in the middle of the shell?

Water Turtle Photo

Years ago, we worked with Florawoods Designs and had a jigsaw puzzle party!

Everyone worked on fabulous wooden jigsaw puzzles and each person got to take home a puzzle.

We chose this one.

Water Turtle Puzzle

This delightful wooden puzzle was not as easy to put together as we had thought it would be.

The unique shapes of the puzzle pieces helped us put it together.

We know one of these turtles is a red-eared slider. Can you tell which one?

Galapagos Face

We loved the wooden puzzles so much, we had one made from one of our favorite turtle photos by award-winning photographer and Turtletoter: Charlie Buckley!

This photo was taken by Charlie at the Honolulu Zoo in Oahu, Hawaii! The tortoises there seemed especially happy in the tropical environment.

Galapagos Puzzle

Maybe this is a face only a turtle lover could love: but we love it!

We feel so fortunate to have also seen Galapagos tortoises in person at the Galapagos Islands.

They say these tortoises were the inspiration for the alien “E.T.” character…do you see a resemblance?

Yertle the Turtle Giant Puzzle

We’ve used this puzzle many times at Turtlesinger shows, often for Dr. Seuss Day! Sometimes there are many children waiting for the show to begin, and we’ve let them work on this giant floor puzzle while waiting.

One year for Camp Cape May, we split the campers into 2 teams and each team took a turn seeing who could put this 48-piece puzzle together the fastest.

We’ve also used this at the Remsterville Daycare Center in Bridgeton, New Jersey. We put magnets on the backs of each piece, and each child brings up a piece to put the puzzle together on a metal screen. Putting the puzzle together becomes a group effort!

Sea Turtles of the World Puzzle

We absolutely love this turtle puzzle.

It’s challenging and includes sea turtles we’ve seen in person around the world, including: Leatherbacks, Loggerheads, Kemp's Ridleys, Flatbacks, Greens, and Hawksbills. The only one of the world's seven sea turtles we have not seen in person is the Olive Ridley sea turtle.

Just like this puzzle shows, we've also seen many of these turtles as adults, juveniles, and hatchlings.

Seeing these sea turtles in person around the world in Costa Rica, the Cayman Islands, the Galapagos Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands in Saint Croix, Bundaberg and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Bermuda, and Hawaii have truly been highlights of our lives!

We got this puzzle at the Lighthouse gift shop in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the nesting place of many sea turtles.

Thanks so much as always for reading and for celebrating National Puzzle Day with us today in a totally turtle way!
