There Are No Rattlers Here

This picture is of a common New Jersey water snake in Swainton. No rattlesnakes live in Cape May County. We’ve loved finding live Cape May County black rat snakes and garter snakes, too.

But in 2024, I came to appreciate rattlesnakes in a whole new way at www.rattlecam.org! This is the most amazing live cam way to see rattlesnakes in their natural environment in Colorado and California. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Those snakes as well as Cape May County snakes are all hibernating now, but can’t wait to see them once again in the Spring, here and online in Colorado/California.

We’ll Leave the Light on For You

So far this year our sign has been shining in honor of Spike’s passing and again on today’s special snake day. We’re looking forward to lighting it also on days like World Turtle Day, World Sea Turtle Day, Reptile Appreciation Day, the Turtlesinger turtles’ birthdays, whenever we’re someplace out and about with our live turtles, whenever we’ve seen turtles crossing Stone Harbor Blvd., and also whenever we have either diamondback terrapins nesting in our yard or hatching from our sand pile! Whenever you see the sign lit, you’ll know something totally turtley special is happening, so feel free to check our blog here or a post on Facebook, or feel free to give us a call to find out what’s going on!

So, thanks for reading, and if you’re local and happen to be driving down Stone Harbor Boulevard today, watch for our neon sea turtle sign lit in honor of Rattlesnake Appreciation Day!
