A Triple Happy Birthday!



In the photo you saw to get here, you may have recognized Big Black Bart on the left. Facing him was another big turtle: a Burmese brown tortoise at the NYTTS (New York Turtle and Tortoise Society) annual turtle show. Although they are not blood brothers and are only brothers in terms of being tortoises (turtles who live on land), they certainly bonded at the show and enjoyed hanging out together.


So, pictured left are 3 Turtlesinger birthday turtles to wish our brothers a Happy Birthday today since their birthdays are only 1 day apart--and again, Happy Birthday to our niece, Katelyn, too! Happy Birthday, Ken and Steven (on separate coasts)! Our brothers met during our wedding 20+ years ago when they were both ushers!

More Brothers!



The picture to the left is of actual brothers: our cats, Wally and Ollie.


People often ask us what the cats think of our turtles. The truth is that, with maybe the exception of Big Black Bart, the cats are far more interested in the turtles than the turtles are interested in the cats. Bart is so outgoing and friendly that he usually tries making friends with anybody. Because our cats are interested but would rather observe him from afar, Bart loves meeting dogs who often approach him face to face. However, as soon as the dogs realize Bart is not afraid of them, usually the dogs become frightened of Bart!
